Hokkaido Yubari red-fleshed honeydew melon can be said to be a specialty of Yubari City, Hokkaido. The flesh of the Yubari honeydew melon is also very bright, and it is as soft as melting in the mouth, sweet and juicy. The soil in Hokkaido is based on volcanic ash, which is rich in nutrients, making the land fertile and suitable for the growth of honeydew melons. However, the temperature difference in Yubari City is relatively large, so some Yubari honeydew melons can have a sugar content of 20 degrees or more!
